How to Make Pillows Envelope Style

Envelope pillow cover gives an elegant look in home decore. Making envelope pillow covers are as easy as making a plain square pillow cover. Below is a complete procedure of how to sew envelope pillow cover.

Material Needed:  
• Sewing and Embroidery Machine
• Embroidery Thread
• General Sewing Thread
• 15"W X 20"L Fabric for pillow (decorative type) 

• 15"W X 20"L Fabric for pillow flap
• 15"W X 11"L flapping Stabilizer
• Batting 

Procedure:
  • First you will have to cut out two pieces of pillow flaps. 1st will be used for front side, 2nd will be used for back side.   (Figure No.1)
  • Put stabilizer at the wrong side of one flap and then sew decorative type stitches as desired and then press.
  • Alongwith right sides, straight stitch the back  and front flap pieces together along sides and then point using a1/4" seam allowance. For turning leave the top open. (Figure No.2)
  • Do Trimming corners of flap then turn right side out and press. 
  • Baste the top of the flap in place 1/4" from raw edge.  (Figure No3)
  • At one end of decorative pillow fabric press under 1/4"to wrong side of fabric. 
  • Turn under again and press a 1" hem to wrong side of fabric.
  • Straight stitch along fold. (Figure No. 4)
  • Place the right side of the flap onto the right side of decorative pillow fabric on the opposite raw edge from the hem. 
  • Stitch in place using a 1/4" seam allowance. (Figure No.5)
  • Now fold the pillow section up over the flap leaving 1/4" at the top. The flap should become sandwiched in between the pillow fabric. 
  • Stitch the side seams of the pillow using 1/4" seam allowances. (Figure No. 6)
  • Turn right side out and press. 
  • Fill pillow with fiberfill. 
  • Slipstitch the pillow closed. 
  • If needed, place a closure at the point of the envelope flap.

There are no reference photos, even though the directions refer to Figure 1, etc. Any chance those could be added?
